First days

It was a long and tiring flight. I am kinda used to the being in various sitting positions , trying to find a comfortable angle to sleep, starring at the many many movies of your choice periods.
I dont make friends on the flights. One, I'd rather rest than tell some busybody where or what I was going to do. Two....I had an experience of offering my unopened bottle of juice to a fellow passenger who was at that time desperately looking for some change in order to be able to buy water in the local currency during the transit....(which I dont remember her thanking me for), she also completely ignored me after drinking my juice that I had saved for my thirsty period!
I do however enjoy looking at other travellers even if I do not communicate much with them.

Arriving at LAX there was a long queue at immigration but the friendly officer made the process a breeze this time. My bags arrived just as I got to the carousel. JAR was also waiting for me at the arrivals.
He still hadnt made his doctor's appointment so we drove straight to the doctor's office to make one. I shall be accompanying him to the hospital next week.
We had a late lunch at the BBQ place which he knows I love. Of course we both packed half of our food. JAR goes back to work after he sent me home to unpack.
Its always great to shower after the journey.
Later when he got back home, we went out to do his normal banking and post office errands.
JAR took me to the house he intends to purchase.
I had seen pictures of it. Yes its a little run down but thats the opportunity part. Its also situated very close to the community's awimming pool and jacuzzi. The trees are fully grown. It has a wide garden at the back. There is space to rest outside the house. We couldnt go inside the locked house as it may be next Tuesday before the deal closes. We peeped in from the windows. Looks small enough to be managed by someone who does NOT do much housework most of her life.
Then JAR drove me to see his condo which is not too far away. That one looks beautiful as it is being lived in by his tenant.
We ended the day by going home and rested in the jacuzzi. After the long flight for me and the heavy amount of driving for him, we both melted in the warm bubbles.
Next morning JAR decided to cook some stuff to bring to work. He is a wonderful engineered cook, using his knowledge of engineering as a basis of his cooking. I decided to stay home to sleep off my jet lag. I finally got up mid day and started to clean up alittle. There was two rounds of washings and dryings. Been quite while since I did that.
I hope the next day gets to be more exciting.

LDR

Its time for another vacation. I am off to visit JAR.

Its time again for us to check out the other to see if we still fit.

Thats the problem with long distance relationships (LDR). Each visit we begin by checking out the other.
Have we changed too much due to our different experiences to fit with the other?
Can we pick up immediuately where we left off?
Will it be as good as it was before?

Thats the down as well as the upside of a LDR.
We get to begin all over again.

American Idol

American Idol.
Have been alot less busy this week. Just did not have the mood to blog.
I watched TV especially American Idol.
I am so glad that the two Davids have made it to the finals. My one regret is that Micheal Whats-his-name did not make it to the final three. I definitely prefer the boys this time around. Yes, Syesha did manage to 'peak' towards the end and thats why she lasted to the top three.
But the two Davids are in a class of their own.
David Cook started off looking like a geek but his image has improved leaps and bounds. They did something to his receeding hair I think. Its a lot nicer now. Either he is wearing a toupee or something. He looks great now when we see most of his forehead. He sings well and can do things to the songs to make them his.
David Archuleta is a born singer. His voice is distinctive and melodious. He 'feels' the songs and broadcasts it to the audience.
Who will win?
I dont know. In a reality tv show anything is possible.
Either way, their careers have begun. They both have nothing to lose even if they lost the title.
Look at Bo Bice and Chris Daughtery (sp?). It didnt matter that they both were not in the finals. They will last longer than maybe even the Idol of their season.
Its nice to watch the show when the ones u root for gets thru the rounds. I remember I lost interest when both Bo and Chris were kicked out.

mother's day

We took mom out for mother's day lunch this weekend.

We chose a restaurant that we had been to twice before. The food was good though the service was slow.

Unfortunately it turned out that the chef was away (on mother's day??? isnt that a day when the crowd comes in? Surely Chefs cannot take that day off?)

The replacement chef obviously needed a tongue transplant. The food was saltiyyyyissh. Everything about the sea food that we ordered had some complaint. Dont restaurant cooks taste what they produce?
Despite the fiasco, we had quite a good time as a family.
Talking about hopes and dreams is a good way to spend an afternoon.

upload

The main madness at work is over. Now just to wade through some meetings. My body is in some kind of shock ......freedom after the weeks of torture. OK, not true freedom as yet but at least now I do have time to blog.
I suddenly realise that I do not know what to write about!
Lets see, we'll take one topic at a time.

1) The Family Home......latest count is its going to brother (provided he gets the financing settled). The negotiations were settled peacefully. We all agreed that it must go to one of us; just which one.

2) JAR......he is busy with the house purchase. I have seen the 'distressed house' pics. I think it looks cute even in allits current mess. JAR loves to 'build' stuff. It gives the engineer in him room to merge with his artistry. I cant wait to go see the place in a couple of weeks.

3) Health news. The sad part. The angry part. Sad cos so many of JAR's family seems to be falling ill. His aunt just had a quadraple bypass. His brother still recovering from the prostate operation. His other brother awaiting his colonscopy appointment. Now that brings in my impatience with JAR not yet making an appointment to get his colonscopy. He's been too busy with the stuff on the house purchase that he hasnt had the time to do so. I dont see that as an excuse! Health must superseed all else!

4) My little ones. Baby niece is starting to pick up words. She is the 'tough' one as compared to her elder sister. We get loads of fun from the two little girls.
