Festivities

The wonderful thing about our festivities is that people always take the opportunity to travel back to their hometown. A gathering of families and friends normally separated because of work commitments and distance.
The awful thing about the process is that everyday u hear of road accidents that happen due to tired, careless drivers or weather conditions.
Both my brothers will always drive to their in-laws place down south. Both my sisters are lucky enough to marry guys whose families are right here in the city.
This year my youngest brother had bought a Honda car just three weeks prior to the holidays.
Mom and I were to spend the first day of the festivities at home and my sisters and their families plus one brother's family. Youngest brother would go back to in-law's place first and return on second day.
Normal practice. Only each year the brother that stays will alternate.
Youngest brother and his family of two cute nieces went home in their new car.
We had a good first day with many visitors coming over to wish us and share our cooking.
On second day we did tyhe visiting.
Late in the evening youngest brother and family arrives with a badly damaged back bumper and bonnet of the Honda.
His car was hit by a careless police sergent who was dreaming as he drove.
We are just thankful that no one was hurt.
Many good things happened to me this round of festivities and I am thankful to God for every single one of them.

Help from cyber space

I was feeling kinda low and was hating being alone when I thought I should go to my blog and vent out my loneliness here.
Then I saw that someone (Terry) had responded to my writings again.
Reading thru what she wrote made me realise that there is always someone out there.
Even in this cyber world unknown strangers actually do more than they realise by just responding to another person whom they do not even know personally.
Thank u, yet again Terry!.

Then I decided to focus on the good happy side of my life.
I now look great again in jeans!
I have taken care of my food and exercise and in the process have redefined my weight and body!
My old jeans fit again and I do look good!
I cook most of my meals to ensure that I dont get too much MSG or all the bad stuff that eating out does to u.
I exercise on a more regular basis. I love the sweating that gives me.
Life isnt so bad all over again.

Every year there will be news about bush fires in California.
Some years its a minor one and in other years there will be even deaths.
Every year I will worry about JAR being somewhere near it.
He calls me worry wart and its not too far from the truth.

A few years ago I had personal experience of the fire.
I was on vacation and visited JAR.
He had promised to take me to the theatre to watch Mama mia.
It was a working day so instead of making him drive back to get me and then driving back to LA for the show i offered to take public transport towards Burbank.
I had planned to follow Maria who was his house cleaner when she finished her cleaning.
We walked to the bus stop so that I could take the bus to the train station.
No buses came even after a half hour's wait.
There was strong smell of smoke.
I called JAR and told him of my predicament.
He started to drive back but there was traffic jam due to the fires.
Luckily a friend informed him of a clear alternative route.
He go back early enough to take me to dinner and the theatre.

This year I worry about JAR being in the smokey LA area all over again
He goes on hikes and I told him to always check the fire situation.
I hope he remembers to do so.
